WSET® Level 1 in Spirits course program

This WSET® Level 1 in Spirits course, lasting approximately 6 hours and including a tasting of 9 spirits, is led by a WSET®-certified specialist. 

You will discover the main categories of spirits around the world, including cognac, whiskeys, rums, gins, tequilas, vodka, flavored spirits, and vermouth, and learn how to analyze and describe their characteristics using the WSET® tasting approach. The course also covers the basics of production, so you can understand what distinguishes each style and develop a simple and clear vocabulary.

You will receive a course book on the day of the course, which contains the key points covered during the training, as well as tasting grids and self-assessment exercises.

Assessment & Certification

The WSET® Level 1 Award in Spirits consists of a closed-book exam comprising 30 multiple-choice questions.

Once you have passed, you will receive the internationally recognized WSET® Level 1 Certificate in Spirits.

This WSET® Level 1 Spirits qualification is the natural first step before moving on to WSET® Level 2 Spirits.
